Communications - Local church communications

Communications Ministry Training Program will bring training in seven areas to you including Local Church Communications.

Local church communications reaches out and brings people into a relationship with others and God.

The following is taken from information provided by United Methodist Communications.

“For us as Christians, communication takes on another dimension beyond the mere ‘push’ and ‘pull’ of everyday information and interaction. Our communication as Christians is expressly designed to draw people into relationship with one another and with God. It is the specific content or message of our communication that makes the difference as we endeavor to communicate the gospel of God’s love for each person and God’s desire to be in relationship with us. And this very precise form of communication becomes a ministry for the local church.

As such, local church communications is a ministry that does many things:

  * Shares the denomination’s and local church’s story with the public

  * Presents an image of the denomination and the local church

  * Builds community within the local church

  * Promotes opportunities and resources

  * Maintains two-way communication with the local church and the community

  * Provides information the local church needs to make informed decisions

In its broadest sense, local church communications is the sum total of everything the local church does, says and shows. Brought down to one goal, local church communications works with all the other ministries of the local church to reach out and bring people into a relationship with each other and God.

United Methodist Communications and the Northwest Texas Conference will be working together to bring this and a variety of training opportunities to the churches within NWTX Conference.

The Communications Ministry Training Program is a partnership of United Methodist Communications and the Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church. Together, we will bring training to local churches in seven areas: Local Church Communications, Web Ministry, Our United Methodist Connection and Promotion of Giving, Rethink Church, Media Spokesperson and Crisis Communications, Welcoming and Local Church Marketing.

The Conference Communications Office will be working to put together a training team that will be available to conduct trainings throughout the Conference. We will be seeking requests for the various trainings and will work with districts to determine where and when to conduct trainings.

Highlights from the various trainings will be included in the NWTX Review and on the Conference website, www.nwtx.org. Information about training sessions will be shared as it becomes available.
