Bishop,

Thank you so much for your straight-forward and very challenging message. I’m putting it in our Newsletter because, like me, many of our folks need to hear this message again. I think I heard the same prayer while at Perkins as well.

Dear Bishop Max,

Thank you so much for poking the comfortable church. I wept when I read your words. In my prayers this morning I clearly heard we are called by our Lord to walk the second mile, give not only our cloak but our tunic and our other cheek. Sometimes we not only need to poke folks we need to prune and fertilize like heck, and if that fails to produce good fruit, get out the axe and start chopping. May you be surrounded by the power and love of Almighty God as you do the work that God has called you to do.  You’re in good company.
