Article Submission Guidelines

In order to keep members of the NWTX and New Mexico Conferences informed, we are asking the various conference ministries, boards and agencies and local churches to submit meeting reports, ministry stories, events, etc. for inclusion in the conference newspapers, Web sites and e-mail news reports.
Below are a few guidelines when submitting information.
Include the name of the team, board, agency or church and the name of the person submitting the information. Also, provide contact information – email and phone numbers.
Meetings: Include information of any decisions made, voting results and any details of projects or events that you want to begin sharing with the conference. Every detail of a meeting does not need to be shared – just action items or projects, events that may impact the conference. Think about what you would want to know if you were reading about such a meeting. Keep the report to 500 words or less. The submission will be subject to editing.
Events/projects: Include who, what, when, where, why. Make sure any registration information is included as well as any costs associated with the event. Make sure any deadlines are listed and that information on where to get registration forms is included. Do submit a registration form – that can be included on the Web site and sometimes in email news and newspaper (inclusion in the newspaper is unlikely due to space and postal requirements).
Ministry stories: Articles will be edited for journalistic style. Articles should be no more than 750 words. Do not write in first person. Try to stay away from we, our, us... Include quotes when appropriate and make sure to put the name of the person who said it as well as their title.
Photos: Submit photos via email if at all possible. Make sure the resolution is 200 dpi and that the size of the photo is smaller than 8x10. Do not make any other adjustments – the communication office will take care of that. Make sure to include the names of those in the photo and/or what the photo is about. Also, include a photo credit (who took the picture) if available. Photos also can be mailed to Karla Abernethy-Thetford, 803 Butterfield Trail, Canyon, TX 79015. Do not fax photos. Do not send a faxed photo, copy of a photo or photo clipped from a newspaper – those will not reproduce well. Remember: You must have parental permission to publish photos of anyone under the age of 18.

Stories will be published as soon as possible. If the story is time sensitive, please indicate and adhere to the following deadlines: New Mexico News is published weekly – information must be submitted two weeks prior to the publication date. Northwest Texas Review is published bi-weekly – information must be submitted two weeks prior to publication date.
