General Conference 2012 Prayer Initiative
NWTX UMC GENERAL CONFERENCE 2012
PRAYER FOCUS
As our denomination approaches the global gathering of delegates for General Conference 2012 which will be held April 24-May 4 in Tampa, Florida, we want to surround the entire process in prayer. The NWTX Nurture Team has written a weekly reflection that can be used in personal devotion, during corporate worship, or shared with the congregation through bulletins, newsletters, and websites. The reflections will be emailed out at the beginning of each week up to General Conference so that the prayer suggestion can be used in the local churches.
Special thanks to Rev. Lewis Holland and Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz for their work on this prayer initiative.

United Methodists Worldwide to Pray for General Conference 2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn./GBOD/ Oct. 25, 2011—When delegates to General Conference 2012 meet in Tampa next April, United Methodists around the world will be able to join them in an unprecedented concert of prayer, seeking God’s will for their decisions.
The Upper Room, a division of the General Board of Discipleship (GBOD), will once again provide a Prayer Guide for delegates, participants and guests of the General Conference.
Unlike at previous General Conferences, however, the guide for GC2012 also will be available free of charge on The Upper Room website for all 12.3 million United Methodists worldwide. The use of technology will help the entire church surround the elected delegates, Council of Bishops and general church staff with prayer.
In addition to overseeing the Prayer Support effort, The Upper Room will for the first time provide guidance and training to engage every local church around the world in prayer for the General Conference through online learning.
Each member of the United Methodist Church worldwide is being asked to:
• Begin praying now for the elected delegates to General and Jurisdictional Conference as they do their work in preparation of the 2012 events
• Pray for God’s will to be clearly discerned by everyone involved in the decisions that will be made at General Conference
A Prayer Website maintained by GBOD (www.gbod.org/prayer_initiative) contains information, guidance and suggestions to help United Methodists pray together in new and meaningful ways.
