Conference Offerings

In keeping with our Wesleyan heritage and spirit of giving, four offerings were received at 2010 Northwest Texas Annual Conference, June 11-13 in Lubbock.

Churches were encouraged to collect offerings prior to Annual Conference, presenting the funds at Annual Conference. Totals collected will be published as soon as the figures are available.

Recipients and the amount collected were:

$3,435.84 for Build, Renew, Rejoice! - The NWTX Conference embarked on a capital campaign to raise funds that would help us fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Money donated to this cause will be used for the creation and establishment of new congregations, the revitalization of existing congregations and the construction of a new, highly functional Conference Service Center.

$2,306.95 for Camp Scholarship Fund - The NWTX Conference is blessed with two camping facilities. Youth experience the wonder of God's love and creation at Ceta Canyon Camp & Retreat Center and Butman Methodist Camp & Retreat Center. Our camping philosophy is "camping is a viable and effective means for furthering the ministry of the church. Provided with a living experience in a “place apart” over an extended time, persons are able to explore God’s story, to experience the vitality of a Christian community, and to grow in relationships. This goal is divided into four broad areas: God's Creation, God and People, Our Response to God, Our Commitment to God and Service."

$2,265.76 for Ministry With The Poor - We are called to help God's people. Through ministries like Abilene Service Center, Midland A.M.O.S., Lubbock Hope Shalom and the Wesley Community Center in Amarillo, the people of The United Methodist Church are reaching out and sharing God's love with our neighbors.

$2,263.30 for Training for Pastoral Leadership - Much is needed and required of our pastoral leadership. The NWTX Conference wants to make sure our pastors have access to the training and resources needed to help them with their ministry and mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
